Mary: A Heart of Faith

Scripture Reference: Luke 1:38 – “And Mary said, ‘Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word.’ And the angel departed from her.”

Mary was a young, humble girl from Nazareth when she received the extraordinary announcement that she would bear the Son of God. Despite her initial fear and questions, she embraced her role with faith, trusting in God’s plan for her life. Her declaration, “Let it be to me according to your word,” is a profound statement of submission and trust in the face of uncertainty. Mary likely faced judgment from others, and her life would never be the same, yet she rejoiced in the privilege of being part of God’s redemptive work. Her faith teaches us that when God calls, He also provides the grace and strength to carry out His plans.

Family Reflection Questions:
• How do you think Mary felt when the angel told her God’s plan?
• Can you think of a time when trusting God helped your family?

I think should have felt confused, nervous, very loved, special and chosen, probably joyful that she was seen by God.

n..Trusting God helped my family when he told me , I was his and everything will be better, I was nervous to find out God was real but a overwhelming peace and comfort quickly restored me to a knowing , this is the Lord and what he says I can trust. Trusting God gave me the strength and confidence that I belonged to him and that in the right time my family will know that I’m a new creation and as a family we would grow closer and love more then ever before, because with out knowings Gods love , we can’t really love eachother well.

I don’t know if I can find the words to adequately describe how I think Mary felt when the angel revealed to her God’s plan. Awestruck, humbled, nervous……. But her response is priceless! No matter what the Lord speaks to us we should have the response of: “be it unto me according to Your Word”.
